This summer, as I embarked on an extensive learning tour as the new President and CEO of College Success Foundation, more than a thousand of our scholars were attending CSF summer programs to help fuel their success through the upcoming school year. Through workshops, college planning, campus visits and on-campus programs, they ended the summer prepared to make progress toward their college degree.
Now a new school year is underway, and our scholars are back in the classroom. As I look to the year ahead, I am also looking back at my first few months at this amazing organization.
During this short time, I have been proud to learn about the generous support from the community that demonstrates CSF’s impact. KING 5 Evening recently profiled CSF and our College Prep Advisor Brian Caylao at Evergreen High School. In September, CSF was named Charity of the Month by the Seattle Seahawks and Bonneville Seattle Radio, and Bonneville generously created a series of public service announcements highlighting the extraordinary work of our dedicated staff.
As I met with CSF’s staff, supporters, scholars and alumni, I was overwhelmed by their passion and commitment to CSF’s mission. And I was inspired by CSF’s successful support model that has inspired more than 9,500 underserved, low-income students to finish high school, graduate from college and succeed in life.
CSF helps underserved students who might not otherwise get to college. Advisors work directly in schools where graduation rates are low to promote a college-going mindset and support students through the educational journey. It is an incredible honor for me to lead an organization that helps break the cycle of poverty and foster educational equity. I am looking forward to building upon the work of CSF’s dedicated staff and Board of Directors to help thousands more students to succeed.
Thank you very much for your continued commitment and support.
