First CSF Achievers Cohort in Kent Celebrates Graduation

June 13, 2018

College Success Foundation hosted a year-end celebration of 150 graduating CSF Achievers Scholars from Kent School District on June 11. The scholars, their families, CSF staff and college representatives gathered in Kent-Meridian High School Cafeteria on a beautiful summer evening to recognize the CSF Achievers’ accomplishments.

This is the first CSF cohort to graduate in Kent since CSF expanded into the district in 2016. CSF Achievers Scholars received certificates and CSF honor cords and enjoyed a raffle, photo booth, and table games with their families.

College Prep Advisors (CPAs) Erika Encisco-Castillo (Kent-Meridian High School), Charisse Bersamina (Kentwood High School), and Elly Mata (Kentridge High School) hosted the evening to celebrate their scholars and shared words of wisdom, acknowledging that this isn’t a goodbye. The CPAs and CSF College Services will continue to support the scholars by providing them with the resources they’ll need to continue down the path of academic success and graduate with a college degree. Representatives from several colleges and universities welcomed the graduating scholars.

CSF Alumnus Korey Strozier shared his inspiring story of how CSF helped him overcome many obstacles to finish high school and graduate from college. He encouraged the scholars to persist when they encounter difficulties.

Three students were also selected by their peers to speak about the profound impact CSF has had on them. They shared how excited they are to start college fully prepared and how CSF has become a family for them, a theme that echoed throughout the evening.

Congratulations, CSF Kent graduates, on your amazing achievement!
