20th Annual Costco Scholarship Fund Breakfast Raises Over $5.1 Million

The 20th Annual Costco Scholarship Fund Breakfast held on Sept. 18 raised more than $5.1 million for underrepresented students at the University of Washington and Seattle University.

More than 1,600 attendees gathered for this inspirational event at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue and listened to scholars share their heartwarming stories of college dreams realized. Costco Scholars Midori Friedbauer, a junior at the University of Washington, and Hamzza Ahmed, a senior at Seattle University, shared their personal experiences with the challenges they faced financing their college education. They expressed their gratitude for the generous donors who have made such a remarkable impact on their lives.

Emcee Analisa Chavez Castendada shared how her father worked as an employee at a Costco warehouse and how she was able to graduate from Seattle University thanks to the Costco Scholarship Fund. She now works for a Costco supplier and supports the Costco Wholesale account.

This event is a celebration of the lasting gift of education that is possible with the continued generosity of sponsors and participants.

Colgate-Palmolive was recognized for their long-term commitment and support of the program. They have been a champion for the Costco Scholarship Fund and donated nearly $500,000 since 2000.
